May Updates!

Two days ago was the one month anniversary of receiving the email from YES that I was going to Indonesia, and it still doesn't feel real. I remember every detail of that day in my head, and although it feels like yesterday it feels like  six months ago at the same time. I haven't left yet and I haven't even gotten much more information yet, but I feel like I've already changed.

Typically in May I am dying for school to be let out so it can be summer and I can stop stressing about finals and such. Of course I am more than excited for summer this year, but it's a different kind of excited. While I wouldn't mind school ending, I'm starting to realize how long it will be until I am at my high school again. I won't be going to school with my friends, going to football games and swim meets, and having track practice for a year and a half. School ends four weeks from tomorrow, and even though I am so ready excited for it to be over, I don't mind as much these next four weeks going fairly slow. I want to make the most of my last 4 weeks of sophomore year, since I only have one year left of American high school. It still hasn't hit me that I am leaving at the end of summer, and I don't think it will for awhile.

In YES news, I have received my departure date! I will be leaving for Indonesia on approximately August 22! It may not be the exact date yet, but I will be leaving some time around that day. I was really surprised since I was figuring somewhere more along the early september time, but I couldn't be more excited. We have our Pre-departure Orientation in DC in June and I am so excited for that too. All of the 65 YES Abroad finalists will be there, and I can't wait to be reunited with everyone from the IPSE, and meet the Indonesia group. I have only met two out of the seven other girls going to Indonesia with me, but I'm sure we'll be really good friends :)

Exactly 100 days until Indonesia!!

Wisconsin girls abroad

I just wanted to update that all of the Wisconsin girls have now been selected as finalists! Ellen and I were originally selected for Indonesia, and Skye for South Africa. Audrey was originally an alternate but has been moved up to Ghana! I could not be more proud of these girls and I am so excited to be reunited in DC!
